Holy Week 2024 - Maundy Thursday

"O sing to the Lord, a new song, for God has done marvelous things!" (Psalm 98:1)

To reflect on Holy Week this year, I've decided to seek out and find some new music (new for me) that tells the story of the last week of the earthly life of Jesus, while also giving us a message to take with us into our lives.

On this Maundy Thursday, we remember that Jesus gave his followers a new commandment: that we love one another. It also centers around the disciples gathering with Jesus for a last meal, Jesus washing the feet of the disciples and then going into the Garden of Gethsemene to pray to God for strength and understanding for the days to come.

Bill Withers' song "Lean on Me" is certainly not a "new song" but I am listening to it today in a new way, especially this bit:

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill
Those of your needs that you won't let show

Wishing you a blessed Holy Thursday.
