Holy Week 2024 - Palm Sunday

"O sing to the Lord, a new song, for God has done marvelous things!" (Psalm 98:1)

To reflect on Holy Week this year, I've decided to seek out and find some new music (new for me) that tells the story of the last week of the earthly life of Jesus, while also giving us a message to take with us into our lives.

Today is Palm Sunday, a day to celebrate Jesus as the King. The gospel of Luke tells the story of the crowds welcoming him into Jerusalem, but when the crowds get too noisy and too excited, the religious leaders become anxious. “Teacher,” they said, “order your disciples to stop.” But Jesus says, “I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out.”

Even the stones will shout for joy! The very earth will sing hosannas to our God! Even if I shush my disciples, the world is proclaiming the glory of God and no one can stop those exclamations!

"That's My King" by Cece Winans is a joyful song and it's a great start to Holy Week.

I'm not letting the rocks cry

Without joining the chorus

There aren't enough notes to make the harmony

It's the song of the angels

Through all of the ages

It's all of the earth and heaven's symphony
